Today's Smoothie

Today we made a smoothie with:

1 cup of R.W. Knudsen Just Black Cherry juice
1 cup of Brown Cow vanilla yogurt
1 banana
1/2 cup frozen pie cherries
1/2 cup ice

It turned out sort of pinkish-purple, on the thin side, with a creamy cherry flavor that's not too sweet or too sour.  Having found another use for our pie cherries than just cherry limeade pie, I plan to pick more tomorrow.

Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and mild with a brisk breeze.

I fed the birds.  I've seen house finches and a lady cardinal.

We filled a wheelbarrow with small logs and moved it from the lawn to beside the regular woodpile.  The walnut logpile is now about half its original size.  Progress!

EDIT 6/23/21 -- We filled a wheelbarrow with medium logs and hauled them to the ritual meadow for bonfires.  Then we hauled 4 rotten sections under the mulberry tree to use as flowerpots.

What's left is a much smaller pile of medium to large logs that will need to be split for firewood.  The newly exposed grass is just starting to show signs of real damage, so it should recover.

EDIT 6/23/21 -- We tried splitting the medium logs.  We managed to break one  in half and partially split another, but the wood really doesn't want to split.  :/  We'll need to think of something else.

EDIT 6/23/21 -- I picked half a bag of mulberries.

EDIT 6/23/21 -- I filled the rotten log sections with potting soil.

EDIT 6/23/21 -- I watered the container garden and the log pots.  I'll need to put more potting soil into the log pots tomorrow and plant them.  Then I watered wildflowers in the prairie garden.

Lots of fireflies out tonight.  :D

As it is dark and I'm tired, I am done for the night.

Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and mild.

I fed the birds.  I've seen house finches and doves.  I saw Bob and another squirrel on the hopper feeder early this morning, chasing each other.  I saw a male goldfinch in the yard.

Before supper, I picked half a bag of mulberries.

After supper, I picked a handful of black raspberries.

EDIT 6/22/21 -- I picked up a trolley of sticks in the south part of the ritual meadow.

EDIT 6/22/21 -- I moved some of the kindling from the pile on the grass to the rack on the patio.

EDIT 6/22/21 -- I watered wildflowers in the prairie garden.

I saw several bats swooping above the driveway, hopefully eating their weight in insect pests.  :D  Sometimes on a quiet night, I can hear them clicking and squeaking.  Tonight,  a breeze is whispering in the trees, so I couldn't even hear the flitter of their busy little wings.  But I was very happy to see them.  <3 bats.

As it is dark and I'm tired, I am done for the night.
