Today we went to watch the movie Monster Trucks. It was hilarious and entertaining. I was expecting a pulp science fiction / teen adventure flick, and it turned out to contain quite a lot more science fiction than I anticipated. If you are at all into SF or adventure films, I highly recommend it. There are some excellent twists in it, so if you like being surprised, go see it now instead of reading further. It's not often that any entertainment can surprise me, but this one did.
This is an advance announcement for the Tuesday, January 24 Poetry Fishbowl. (my_partner_doug pointed out that the January calendar lends itself to putting a delayed bonus fishbowl then.) The extra fishbowl comes as a perk from recent fishbowls reaching the $250 goal. I'm aiming for two things here: These are intended to be one-shot poems, NOT series installments, so I expect most or all of them to be sub-epics. This is a chance for those of you who aren't as fond of the series to request things that stand alone, and for those of you without deep pockets to enjoy more modestly priced shopping opportunities. It's also a perfect time to prompt for short poetic forms. I'm hoping to keep this to one day's writing, so I can work on my backlog of projects.
The theme is "nature," and you're all encouraged to prompt with your own locale; if I'm not familiar with it, I can always look it up or you can give me links, photos, etc. to help. I'll be soliciting ideas for famous naturalists, country folks, city folks who don't like getting nature on them, explorers, people who love wilderness activities, kids running wild, landmarks, habitat types, mountains, forests, rivers, oceans, caves, gardening for wildlife, birdwatching, cloudwatching, stargazing, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, other outdoor activities, native flora and fauna, natural sciences, cultural tidbits based on nature, Paganism and other nature religions, raw materials, nature crafts, and poetic forms in particular.
If you're interested, mark the date on your calendar, and please hold actual prompts until the "Poetry Fishbowl Open" post next week. This fishbowl is open to everyone, and you may share the announcement with anyone interested in the American landscape.
Apparently people think saving the Earth is for pussies. Whatever happened to good old-fashioned "you fuck up my territory, I will tear your face off" protectiveness? I mean really. You jerks should turn in your cock and balls, you're embarrassing the rest of manhood. >_<
This poem came out of the March 1, 2016 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from siliconshaman and LJ user Rix_scaedu. It also fills the "authority" square in my 2-29-16 card for the Villain Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette. It belongs to the Aquariana thread of the Polychrome Heroics series.
