Drying Lakes

Continuing the thread of water scarcity, here's an article about Lake Mead going down. One interesting dilemma it raises is that climate prediction is difficult or impossible to scale down; even the Colorado basin is too small for effective prediction. Scientists are trying to cobble together data from different sources, such as tree rings, to give a good guess. But that still leaves us with a shortage of solid data on which to base plans for the future. Not a reassuring thought.
