For best results, aim to accomplish multiple goals simultaneously. In this case, the President seeks to create green jobs, which will lower unemployment, boost the economy, move America toward energy independence so we don't have to rely on oil from people who hate us, and protect the environment of the only planet we have to live on. This is a terrific idea.
Mary Susan Littlepage | Obama Offers Job Proposals, Discusses Improving Economy
Mary Susan Littlepage, Truthout: "President Barack Obama has proposed increasing spending on highway, transportation and other infrastructure projects, as well as increasing tax breaks for small businesses and offering tax incentives to people who make their homes more energy-efficient. In his speech Tuesday morning at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC., Obama also said that small business, infrastructure and clean energy are areas in which Americans can be put to work while putting the nation on a sturdier economic footing."

B.S.
If the Fed raises interest rates and the system doesn't plummet, I'll believe that. Maybe. Depending on how high the rates go and how far the system falls when it happens.
"The Department of Labor released unemployment numbers for November showing that 11,000 jobs were lost last month - the fewest jobs lost in a year and far fewer than economists had anticipated."
Oh hurray, only 11,000! Wonderful. Incidentally, is that net jobs lost or total? The article doesn't say; three guesses as to why.
"The fact that the unemployment rate fell slightly last month is a result made possible in part by the up to 1.6 million jobs that the Recovery Act has already created and saved, Obama said."
Sorry, but when you have the Chicago Sun Times of all publications pointing out that some of those supposedly "created and saved" jobs don't even exist, then you're probably blowing smoke out of your a**
"For even though we've reduced the deluge of job losses to a relative trickle, we are not yet creating jobs at a pace to help all those families who've been swept up in the flood. There are more than 7 million fewer Americans with jobs today than when this recession began. That's a staggering figure, and one that reflects not only the depths of the hole from which we must ascend, but also a continuing human tragedy."
Translation: SPEND MORE MONEY.
Guys, just where do you think Obama's going to get the cash for all these spending programs, if not from the taxpayer? All this stuff about tax breaks and tax incentives is a load of hooey; he can't simultaneously cut taxes AND spending. If he does cut taxes and spending, he'll have to do it by either borrowing money or printing money. If he prints money, that's the same thing as taxing the public. If he borrows money, eventually he'll have to pay it back, which brings us back to the cutting taxes, cutting spending, or printing money options; that's not a solution to the problem, it's a deferral.
Go ahead, keep cheering. Just try not to think too hard about what Padme said in Star Wars, about how liberty dies.
