I've had it a number of times, and it's not "like my grandmother’s armpit" at all. They must have screwed up the recipe. The Turkish, Iranian and Lebanese versions of it are yummy, and there are a couple of St. Louis restaurants where I always get it for my dessert.

As for the durian ice cream, well, some people love durian. I'm not crazy about it. I always smell the rotten garbage odor of the fruit and it affects my taste perception of it, but a lot of other people say it tastes like a sweet tropical fruit.
Oh, I must have missed that one. I do use rosewater, though not by itself. I combine it with strawberries.

Bad rosewater does smell kind of sweaty and funky; it gets like that when it gets old, sometimes. And I've had rosewater that tasted like soap, those fancy rosebud hand soaps.

Good rosewater is actually more of a texture than a flavor, kind of furry, but it also brings out the floral notes in anything you mix it with. So it makes the strawberries, especially wild ones, do all kinds of lovely tricks.
