I think we have the potential for the best of both worlds; books, audio and video to record the stories the elders tell, and the oldest art of story-telling.
And I use that "beep-beep" (or more often, "meep-meep") to both clear a path and to announce my arrival when I've been rushing. It usually gets a delighted grin, even from teeners who have no idea what it's about.
