Apparently all kinds of things go on inside goldenrod galls, beyond the caterpillars who make them. Fascinating. I've seen the galls but haven't…

Here's an article about science and spirituality, sort of. It doesn't have a very wide view of either. Can you be scientific and spiritual? This…

"Judges! What do they want?"
"No one knows."
As someone who's sung in enough choral competitions, I know that's the truth! :D

I love barbershop quartet music. Too bad it's not more popular. Of course, there isn't a lot of music that I *don't* like.
The way my mind works, when I saw "Star Trek" associated with music, my thoughts immediately leaped to instances of interesting music in Star Trek, from alien cultures. The best examples I can think of are Klingon opera1 and the music of the Talarians from the episode "Suddenly Human". Which are both forms of music that most people probably wouldn't like, the Talarian music in particular. But that's one of the oddities of me. I was practically deaf and unable to taste much of anything for most of my childhood, both because of my sinuses being constantly clogged up no matter what. It was all cleared up by high school, but it gave me a preference for strongly flavored food (feta cheese, crab apples, cranberry juice with as little sweetening as possible, and lemons), and also for kinds of music that most people don't take to. I think most people are like Picard, in that they process Talarian music as noise, but me, I found it interesting and wanted to hear more.
1 = Oh Gods. I accidentally capitalized "opera" there at first, and that made me think of a version of the Opera browser with the controls all in Klingon!
