The Star Trek Quartet

Here is a video of Capt. Kirk and his hapless landing crew beaming down into a barbershop quartet contest. Do not play with your mouth full.

I do like the "barbershop" style of a cappella and I do like Star Trek...but I never would have thought to put the two together! O_o

"Judges! What do they want?"

"No one knows."

As someone who's sung in enough choral competitions, I know that's the truth! :D
I loved this and reposted the link on Facebook. Thanks so much for sharing!
Oh, wonderful! I must share with a couple of coworkers who sing barbershop.
Anybody want to bet AGAINST a cover of these being done at OVFF?

i didn't think so
LOL! Awesome!

I love barbershop quartet music. Too bad it's not more popular. Of course, there isn't a lot of music that I *don't* like.

The way my mind works, when I saw "Star Trek" associated with music, my thoughts immediately leaped to instances of interesting music in Star Trek, from alien cultures. The best examples I can think of are Klingon opera1 and the music of the Talarians from the episode "Suddenly Human". Which are both forms of music that most people probably wouldn't like, the Talarian music in particular. But that's one of the oddities of me. I was practically deaf and unable to taste much of anything for most of my childhood, both because of my sinuses being constantly clogged up no matter what. It was all cleared up by high school, but it gave me a preference for strongly flavored food (feta cheese, crab apples, cranberry juice with as little sweetening as possible, and lemons), and also for kinds of music that most people don't take to. I think most people are like Picard, in that they process Talarian music as noise, but me, I found it interesting and wanted to hear more.

1 = Oh Gods. I accidentally capitalized "opera" there at first, and that made me think of a version of the Opera browser with the controls all in Klingon!
Oh, and funny Star Trek music reminded me of these (some are NSFW):

He also did a Star Wars filk song, too, but I won't link that here.
