Bill Clinton Frees Journalists

I am quite impressed with Bill Clinton's success in freeing two journalists imprisoned in North Korea. That is action above and beyond the call of duty. I don't usually see "if you want it done right, do it yourself" and real personal risk on the part of politicians. I mean, the crazy leader in charge of that country could have just shot him. But Bill managed to get them freed. Wow.

Bill Clinton Departs North Korea With Two Freed US Journalists
Warren P. Strobel, McClatchy Newspapers: "North Korean leader Kim Jong Il pardoned two American journalists and ordered them released Tuesday during an extraordinary visit to the country by former president Bill Clinton, the country's state-run media reported. The two journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, had been detained since March 17 when, according to North Korea, they crossed the country's border with China. In June, they were sentenced to 12 years of hard labor for illegal entry into the country and 'hostile acts.'"

I am rather impressed by his initiative as well.
Me too! I have always admired Clinton's elegant negotiating skills. It was such a shock when that dumb-ass frat boy swaggered and farted his way into the Oval Office after him.
I really am desperately curious to know how he did it!
I am glad that the two women have been set free. However, a pardon is not an acquittal, and I must admit that I find the circumstances decidely odd. Why was Bill Clinton the one to go, when he no longer has any official political role? And what did he give the NKoreans in exchange for the womens' freedom? (I find it hard to believe that Kim Jong did it out of the goodness of his heart.) It's really very odd.
I maintain that I believe on the whole Bill Clinton was an excellent president as well. He may have made very crappy choices in his personal life, however, he was a good president. My opinion anyhow.

He was a competent President, and accomplished much, though not all that I might have hoped. What a man does with his genitals is his business, and his wife's.
If he keeps this up, he'll turn into the next "bumbling fool who talks to insane and corrupt world leaders", just like Jimmy Carter. :/

Some days I want to stuff my parents' politics in a washing machine and get all the stupidity-dirt out of their heads.
