See the New Scrub Boat!

I'm delighted by this video of a boat designed to clean up water pollution. It scoops water through filters to remove contaminants such as solid particles or oil slicks. This would be a good way to start getting nurdles out of the oceans.

Nurdles are tiny plastic bits intended for use in molds to create plastic products. The problem is, companies often allow them to spill out of trucks, ships, factories, etc. so they get into the waterways and kill animals that eat them.
It might also be able to filter out the plastic flakes from the Pacific Gyre that fish mistake for plankton.
