Does this mean you got a response that required you to quickly put together your samples??

Yes, I sent out a query for "Vampires of the World," and the editor wanted to see the manuscript. Then I realized that the relevant poems were scattered through an archive containing well over a thousand pieces. I've spent so many years with editors-who-have-money not being interested, and editors-who-are-interested not having money, that I kinda started throwing queries in the mail whenever I racked up enough poems in a series to make a good start on a chapbook. I didn't stop to think "What if they ask to see the manuscript?" So, I got to spend yesterday pulling together all the VotW poems, and next will be asking the editor for more details on manuscript parameters.

I'll also be collecting the scattered components of "The 50 Poetic States" before I send out queries for that again.
