This poem is spillover from the April 4, 2023 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by conversations with . It also fills the "Dumortierite - Mental & Psychic Abilities" square in my 2-1-23 card for the Valentines Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by . Quixotic Ideas is a new series set in Quorth or Q-Earth, a world that integrates magic with modern life. It has a similar upbeat tone as Terramagne. "The Qui to Everything" Where there is life, there is energy. Where there is no life, there is different energy. Nothing is ever really created or destroyed, only transformed. This is the qui to everything, the energy that animates the world. Quonjury is the use of it to accomplish things, manipulating forces and objects to do tasks that would be unachievable by more ordinary means. The quixotes have the ability to use qui for quonjury -- some just a little, others enough for amazing feats. Quixotic people may choose to specialize in a certain system or learn several that work for them -- or they may feel that it's too hard to learn and pursue something else. The quotides have no knack for qui and can't manipulate it without the kind of artifacts that don't require personal power to use. Quotidian people usually work in practical fields, but some of them specialize in theory, like quantum metaphysics. Then there are the quarks, who not only lack aptitude, they're actually immune to many of the hazards that come from quonjury. Quarian people are thus much sought after as first responders for quixotic emergencies. Tinquers are the ones who invent, build, or repair tinquery -- artifacts that operate with qui. Most of these have only moderate ability, but a few of them are truly exceptional. In most cultures, they all get along pretty well, though some still look down on those whose abilities are very high or very low. Usually people are glad to build teams with some of each, so they can handle the widest range of challenges. After all, qui is in everything, but not everything is about qui.
