More Impressionist Photography

Since people find it appealing, I present...

Impressionist Pinks: These grow just outside the edge of the butterfly garden.

Impressionist Herb Garden: This is part of the Strip Garden along one edge of our patio, showing various types of basil and thyme plus some marigolds.

Hee! I like the top "Impressionistic" photo the best. Your camera produced some interesting, cool-shaded greens and whites. :)
Feedback is candy.
Number 2 is my fave.
Hmm. Does your photo editor allow you to resize photos? These are pretty large.
... it asks what size I want them, I type that in, and it puts them up full size. To resize them I have to use the LJ edit function. I don't always remember to do that. These pictures should appear smaller now. I don't like the way huge photos mess up my screen.
You can always use MS Word to resize them. Paste them into a Word document, resize them, hit the keyboard's "print screen" function, paste into MS Paint, and crop as needed.
They really are quite pretty!
Please do forgive my total ignorance in art and photography, but could someone explain the "impressionist" aspect of the photos so I can best appreciate them better? I kindof just see a blurry photo and don't understand :(
Impressionist art is supposed to capture the essense of a thing rather than its exact visual appearance:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impressionism
http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761553672/Impressionism_(art).html

When the first batch of photos came out mostly awful, I still posted some because I'd promised to show people the results whether good or bad. Several folks independently compared the very blurry flower photos to the light, spontaneous, soft-focus Impressionist school of art. (There is actually a photography stunt that involves using vaseline to get a blurry effect.) So I figured that was worth exploring further.
Thanks Ysabet :) I'll look into it. I've never really been exposed or taught art, so it'll be good to know something about something!
Cool. Art can be lots of fun if you don't take it too seriously. There are plenty of good books on the topic, and good websites. You might enjoy exploring the different "schools" or "styles" of art and what makes each one distinctive. Another fun thing is to investigate different media such as watercolor, oil, acrylic, etc.

I highly recommend that you visit haikujaguar and read her art posts. She often includes photos of paintings in progress, plus discussion of techniques and processes.
