Poem: "The Strange Shapes of Clouds"
This poem came out of the January 7, 2020 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by Jay. It has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette.
Cumulonimbus clouds are thunderheads
that spread out high and flat overhead
with a tall column underneath
where gray and white tufts
billow up into the sky
catching the sunlight
until they finally
begin to rain.
Cirrus clouds
are fluffy b its
of white drifting
around the
top of the sky.
Mammutus hang below a layer.
clouds do wn
Lenticular
clouds form
fluffy circles.
Stratus clouds form a solid sheet of low vapor
thick enough to block out the sunlight above.
The strange shapes of clouds
tell us about their nature.
