Lexember Day 20
I'm doing Lexember this month. The idea is to make (or learn) a new word every day. This can be for a conlang or a natural language.
December 20
Shieling -- Scottish slang for territory or lair in the superpowered community. Scottish soups, like Scottish clans, tend to be territorial but can minimize conflicts by keeping to their own territory or that of allies. Some territories have a solitary owner, others are communal, and the borders are typically marked in some way. They don't necessarily correspond to civic or natural boundaries, but often have at least one border that is defined by a road, river, or such.
shieling
[ shee-ling ]
noun Scot.
a pasture or grazing ground.
a shepherd's or herdsman's hut or rough shelter on or near a grazing ground.
[Polychrome Heroics vocabulary]
