Character notes for "A Place That Makes You Happy" the Pans

These are the Pans character notes for "A Place That Makes You Happy."

The Pans left to right:
2 adults with 1 kid -- house flippers
2 adults with 5 kids -- woman lawyer, man cardiologist
1 grandmother -- retired movie star
2 adults with 5 kids -- woman model, man director
3 adults with 2 kids -- man in pink T-shirt enterprise architecture manager, man in plaid shirt enterprise architect, stay-at-home mom
2 adults -- woman software architect, stay-at-home dad
Total: 25
After marriage with Clan Aspen: 25 + 18 (+1) = 43 (+1)

The first two people are house flippers who remodel dilapidated housing to put it back on the market. They figure they can upgrade the housing in Pan Aspen Camp, since some of it is pretty cheap vacation units. Between houses, the man does architectural woodcarving such as doors and arches, while the woman makes stained glass windows. They are not great with small children, which they hand off to other spice, but they excel with older childrens and teens, who are welcome to learn the family business by working alongside the adults.

The average house flipper in South Carolina made less than $2,000 per house in the last quarter, according to RealtyTrac, but one local flipper says if you’re making less than $10,000 per home you might as well not do it.

The man throwing the child is a cardiologist and the woman freaking out over it is a lawyer.

The grandmother is a retired movie star from Spartanburg, South Carolina who now provides childcare. She is the only grandparent from the entire Pan family who has close enough contact with them to count as a member, and she isn't polyamorous. This upsets them, and is a key reason why they wanted to marry with Clan Aspen, who have four polyamorous elders to set a good example for the younger generations.
