Community Building Tip: Mobile Produce

For my current set of tips, I'm using the list "101 Small Ways You Can Improve Your City.

90. Start a mobile produce market. Running a new route through the city’s food deserts, a decommissioned Chicago Transit Authority bus transported market-fresh produce—not riders—for eight months in 2017. The Fresh Moves project helped underserved neighborhoods get access to the same farmer’s market finds sold in other parts of the city.

This is an excellent idea, and in fact a very old one.  My partner Doug still remembers the jingles that vendors used when selling fruits and vegetables in inner-city Detroit.  "Watermelon, watermelon!"  It doesn't have to be as big as a bus -- you can sell things off a bicycle.
