Calling a Spade a Spade: Ventura on Torture

Doug tipped me to this blog entry and video about Jesse Ventura discussing torture. Sometimes it's useful to have a guy who is not distracted from unpleasant truths.

When Lis first told me about that, I sorta nodded.

A couple minutes later, I turned to her.

"Wait," I said. "Jesse Ventura was a SEAL, wasn't he?"

"Yup."

"That means that he went through SERE, doesn't it?"

"Yup."

"So he's actually BEEN waterboarded, hasn't he?"

"Yup."

"You mean there's someone who's actually talking about this issue who actually knows what he's talking about?"
... there is at least one more. Back toward the beginning of the ruckus, some guy waterboarded himself and then blogged about the experience in some detail, describing why it is torture.
There've been several. I have yet to see anyone go through that and not say it wasn't torture.
Strictly speaking, he was a Navy frogman, but not one of the SEALs. But they get waterboarded too.
*nods*

Got pointed at that just before you linked. Glad to see he's still making some good points.
Or, alternatively, someone found it here and pointed me to the destination, so you turn out to be the source.

*chuckles*

"It's from... oh! Neat!"

*sighs*

This is my day for source checking, it really is.
That was cool! Thanks for posting the link.
