Birdfeeding

Today is freezing cold, and still snowing -- almost sideways.  There is more accumulation than we've seen all year and it is drifting.  Still relatively low on my scale, but a heavy snow for the current context.

I fed the birds.  It's three-bird cold out: they huddle together even on the feeders.  I've seen a flock of sparrows, several doves, some dark-eyed juncos, a Bewick's wren, and a downy woodpecker who's foraging low to avoid the wind.  No cardinals as yet.
