Poem: "Beauty Beyond Youth"
This came out of the August
crowdfunding Creative Jam. It was inspired and sponsored by
nsfwords.
"Beauty Beyond Youth"
Babies are born cute, with
their big heads and eyes,
chubby bodies, downy hair,
ten tiny fingers and ten little toes.
Children are adorable --
when they're not in trouble --
their cherubic faces smiling,
arms reaching, legs pumping.
Teenagers are awkward,
all gawky limbs and pimples,
clumsy words offending, but
theirs is the beauty of potential.
Young adults have grown into
their grace, svelte and self-assured,
scanning the crowd for possible mates,
circling each other with interest.
Mature adults are thicker around
the middle, made for hugging,
come into the calm waters of
mid-life with some serenity.
Elders are as handsome as
the hills, their faces folded with
valleys and ridges of memory,
art from the hand of Time itself.
