"La Fuente de la Juventud"
Juan Ponce de León searched
for the Fountain of Youth,
having heard about it in
native myths and legends.
He sailed in search of
Isla de Bimini where
the mystical spring
supposedly emerged.
From time to time, Juan
left the official expedition,
sometimes with a few men,
other times alone, to hunt
for the hidden fountain.
Unfortunately for Juan,
he was indeed alone when he
finally found the Fountain of Youth.
So there was no one to hear the infant's cries.

Notes:
La Fuente de la Juventud
The fountain of youth
The Fountain of Youth has featured in many different cultures. In the Americas it was variously believed to be in Florida or Bimini.
Juan Ponce de León is among the more famous explorers said to have searched for the Fountain of Youth. There are multiple references to this, but the historic sources are questionable. So was the fellow and most of his activities, along with the Age of Exploration in general. He definitely visited some of the territory reputed to hold it, and while this may or may not have been a main reason for going there, once he was there ... might as well have a look around just in case.
