"Easy Rogan Josh"
Ingredients:
large lamb steak (or 1 pound of lamb stew meat)
1 jar of Patak's Rogan Josh Curry Simmer Sauce
rice or bread for serving
Directions:
Chop the lamb steak. Put the lamb into a crockpot and cover it with the Patak's Rogan Josh Curry Simmer Sauce. Cook on Low for 3 hours or until tender.
Serve over rice or bread.
Notes:
What we had to work with was a thin, flat slab of lamb nearly the size of a ham steak. More often, you'll find cubes of lamb stew meat. You could also work with a lamb roast, but it would take longer to cook. Normally Low takes 5-6 hours and High takes 3-4 hours in a crockpot, but this cooked up so fast we wound up eating it for lunch instead of supper.
Patak's makes a variety of curry sauces, which are about as good as a really nice jar of spaghetti sauce: not quite as good as making it from scratch, but damn tasty and WAY less work.
This is actually quite different from our household recipe for Rogan Josh (aka "Demon-Banishing Lamb") which uses yogurt, so this version is more like a typical lamb curry. It's very savory and zesty without being overly hot.
