EDIT 6/16/20 -- I cut more brush by the driveway and I watered plants.
EDIT 6/16/20 -- We went back out to check the fire, and threw on the fresh-cut branches from the Washington hawthorn tree, in the interest of not having thorns lying around.
The fireflies are very sparkly tonight. :D There are a few in the ritual meadow and house yard, but dozens in the prairie garden. Some are still just above the grass, but others are already way up in the trees, even though there's still a smudge of color in the west. Only a few are out over the fields. Most of these are strobe species, the kind that blink on and off very fast, in a kind of Morse code. Not many are the kind that stay glowing for a few seconds while flying in a pattern. They are very pretty to watch.
I may not be able to save the world, but I can grow a fine brothel for fireflies.
