Climate Change and Economics

This article details some of the economic losses coming from climate change.

I've been saying this for decades: The economy and the environment are not opposed.  The economy is a subset of  the environment.  Therefore, no environment, no economy.

I continue to be frustrated that I, with my shabby math, still grasp some economic principles better than professional economists. >_<

When we moved into this house, the yard was a mess. We dug up weed trees and planted roses and herbs and eventually vegetables and other flowers. We hid a huge compost pile behind flowers and the mulberry tree, and did our best to treat our yard like a tiny farm that was going organic.

We moved in in October, but by the end of the next summer, we had fireflies in our yard. The next year they were across the street, and now we can see them everywhere that's line of sight from our house. Admittedly, we are in a neighborhood too poor for people to be buying poisons to spruce up their lawns, but we were surprised how much differe nmaking just one (large) yard insect-friendly made.
You are awesome.

And yeah, even a small habitat can make a big difference for tiny creatures. Our yard is firefly-friendly among crop fields that get sprayed. It helps.
