Niles Leland -- He has ruddy skin, brown eyes, and short brown hair. He is tall and lanky. Athletic and independent, Niles lives in a cabin near Rutledge, Vermont where he works as a ski instructor and guide. He uses his knowledge of nature to ensure safe and fun trips for his clients. He dislikes most technology, though, preferring skis to cars and notebooks to computers.

She gets a lot of respect from her tribe, and some in Rutledge where people know her. Beyond that, her dark coloring stands out among the very white population of Vermont, which attracts negative attention that she handles badly. So she rarely travels outside the county.

Uniform: On duty, she wears a loose bodysuit of burnt orange with a turtleneck that pulls up to hide her face, and tortoiseshell glasses over that. Off duty, she wears comfortable women's clothes, mostly in autumn colors.

Hanah grew up in Aleppo, then later fled to Rutledge, Vermont. Her education was disrupted by the uprisings in 2011, and she only reached America in 2014, so she missed much of high school. Still, she hopes to attend Landmark College in the fall, as she wants to become an Emotional First Aide. Hanah is Catholic. Graceful and kind, she makes friends easily. She is crowed Maple Queen during the Maple Everything festival in 2015.
