Every once in a while, I see an ad campaign that is just downright vicious. This one deserves to be sued into oblivion for cruelty and breach of privacy.

Hmmm - If that's real, it can't be cheap. I wonder what it's load limit is, and how many friends it would take to break it by sitting on it.
That's a good question.

Or how many loads of groceries.
I just have this mad image of half a dozen fat people gleefully racing round the city plopping themselves down on these things 'til they go kaput. The weighbenches not the people.
guerilla fatties! I love it!
Another capitalist plot crushed to death by citizen action! Because I totally know some activists who would do this. And hey, it's exercise.
Heh. Any heavyset college student with a backpack full of books like I used to carry (over 30#) would start to strain it.

It would be a cool way to see just how much your crap weighed.

To break it, 4 or 5 ordinary people with book bags, full backpacks or metal weights would make it go wonky real quick.

*peers at the photos*

Hmm, looks like that bench is weighing folks in kilos rather than pounds. So if we wanna break the scales, some of us are in for a mighty long trip! :D

(Anyone know where those pictures were taken, by the way?)

Walking is excellent exercise for people who need more. In fact, one can save money by renting an apartment with stairs instead of an elevator.

>>I think it's most important to live within walking distance of the places you need to go.<<

I agree. Sadly, that's not an option out in the country, nor in most American cities. Some cities have a very high walkscore, though. I wrote a post about this:

Your other ideas are good too. I think it's sad that people have to go out of their way to create a healthy lifestyle now, because the norm is really unhealthy -- people spend most of their time sitting, not moving much.

I didn't click. I know it makes sense to show people what upset you, but you also are providing them free press by posting a link to them... Perhaps remove the link and simply say who put out the offensive advert and what makes it offensive. You don't want to reward them for being foul, after all.
Just a thought.
Why do I see an opportunity to take advantage of the fact that I'm a lot heavier than I look?...
