Poem: "smoke, fire, water"

This poem came out of the January 7, 2020 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from rix_scaedu. It has been sponsored by [personal profile] technoshaman.  This poem belongs to the Lacquerware series.

"smoke, fire, water"
-- a tanka

smoke, fire, water
wood finished in black lacquer
these come together
in layer after layer
of mysterious programs

Notes:

A tanka is a syllabic poem of five lines in the pattern 5/7/5/7/7.

Japanese aesthetics deal in light and shadow.
