Fiction Goal 1/3 Complete

This morning (that is, Wednesday morning, though it's after midnight so this post will have a Thursday timestamp) I woke up with a story in my head. It happened to be a fairy tale, and for me those usually run about 1000 words. So despite having a ton of other things to do today, I sat down and wrote it first. This applies toward my goal of writing at least three short stories this year. The story is "The Girl Who Spoke Toads" (that is not a typo) and it's about a princess who drops toads and snakes from her mouth when she speaks.

*cheers!* :D
wish I could do 1,000 words. I did write a bit of flash fic last night though and it wasn't half bad :)
Most of my stories are longer, things that are straight-up fantasy or science fiction. But I get fairy tales and legends and stuff like that, and for some reason they almost always hit the length range between, say, 700 and 1300 words. Storytelling length, if you will. Outside of that, my estimation skill for fiction length is epic fail. I suppose I should be grateful for the one part that's fairly consistent.
Wow, that sounds awesome. My inner child wants to read it to find out why she's speaking toads and snakes from her mouth!
It sounds interesting:) I would love to read it so do let us know where you end up publishing it.
It's generally seen as a curse, versus the blessing that's given to the "good girl" of having flowers and jewels drop from her mouth, which could be equally uncomfortable.

I have a fiction idea percolating, but at the moment it's just a setting with no plot whatsoever. Perhaps I should start writing it and see what the hell the characters are going to do. It seems awfully derivative, though.
