Losing the Big Cats

The decline of large predators at the end of the Ice Age was likely driven by loss of prey.  The same pressure affects the surviving big cats today, whose prey species are diminished by shrinking habitat and other challenges.  This is one aspect of an overall trend toward shrinking size across most species.
