Buy Nothing Day

Today is Buy Nothing Day.  People can make gifts or exchange favors.

I got curious about how the Finns would celebrate this.  Naturally they pile together and MAKE ALL THE THINGS!  A kitchen full of Finns.  A workshop full of Finns.  A makerspace full of Finns and many other people with a "Need a Thingie? Take a Thingie! Free Swap Meet" in the multipurpose room.  :D  So. Much. Win.  (Unless you are the patent lawyer who has to figure out the results on Monday.)

A graffiti banner urges people to make things instead of buying things.

Hubby and I agree with you totally.
We went nowhere and we bought nothing. (We continued eating our leftovers too.)
:^)
I'm happy to hear that.
I like that :)

It's kind of sad that Thanksgiving day has turned into a time when instead of focusing on being grateful--the Christmas rush begins--what stores are open? How soon can we get there? How good is the sale?
Holidays that used to be about family have turned into gross consumerism. >_<

One time we stopped at a store on the way home from Thanksgiving to buy something. It was early evening and the "Black Friday" sale was already raging with lines over an hour long.

We turned around and left.
