Cosmic Eye

There's a lovely little New Age/Pagan shop in Wyandotte, Michigan called Cosmic Eye. We dropped by there this Sunday morning on our way home. They stock herbal extracts, herbs, oils, incense, candles, stones and crystals, jewelry, books, and miscellaneous other magical and spiritual supplies. We found what we were looking for, plus a crystal we'd been hunting for several years. Other attractions include psychic readings and Tarot.

I was also delighted by the demonstration of a singing bowl -- a crystal one well over a foot wide. The sound seemed to come out of the air itself, instead of the bowl! Someday when I have absurd amounts of disposable income, I'm going to get me one of those. I have a nice little metal one that's been used in ritual before, but the crystal ones ... wow.

Doug found my book Composing Magic on the shelves, and pointed out to the shopkeepers that I wrote it. So I wound up signing it for them, and they asked if I do author events. So maybe the next time we're up that way, I'll be able to do one there.

The shop is open seven days a week (11 AM-7 PM Mon-Sat, 12 PM-8 PM Sun). Wyandotte is part of the larger Detroit sprawl, so if you're up in that part of Michigan, this place is well worth your while to visit. Highly recommended.

It's been a while since I've been out that way - there are a half dozen or so shops closer, at least 3 of which are new in the last year. But I'm thinking it's about time for another day trip of driving from shop to shop here in the area to get a feel for them all again.

Last time I hit most of the local shops in a day, I realized different shops were best for different types of things; this time I think it's more about knowing what's where, and what they're all doing. This spring I think I'm making an effort to be more out and about in the community, at least on a small scale - public rituals, classes, whatever strikes my fancy :-)
You're lucky to have so many to choose from! There is not a single New Age Store in my immediate area. Even the powwow store Driftstone Pueblo is over half an hour away.
So here I am searching for my friend Kris (who owns The Cosmic Eye) and I find your review of her store. Then to discover you wrote Composting Magic... *grins* I am just beside myself in the irony b/c all of my friends out here inthe Pac NW are composting crack heads and I saw a review of your book recently and was just going to send out a letter to my friends telling them about it. *grins* Small world.

Anyways... I do love the Cosmic Eye... been shopping there since I was a little girl when the original owners still owned the shop. :-) I miss Wyandotte!
If you find Kris, by all means show her the review. *g* I went in there looking for beads to make a necklace, and the recipient has hardly taken it off since I presented it.

My book is about writing rather than compost, though: Composing Magic: How to Create Magical Spells, Rituals, Blessings, Chants, and Prayers.
Well damn.... then I think I have the wrong author. Bahahaha... that is OK though... writing books are also popular... now I am off to look up your actual book and not the one I thought it was (gardening/composting/perma culture)..

*blushes*
