But I also read incredibly fast. A light book will last me a few hours; a typical novel might go a day or two. Desultory perusal of something like a cookbook might take a few days or a week. To be fair, I've had Lisa Randall's book on quantum mechanics, Warped Passages, on the coffee table for months. That one I can't read in big chunks because it keeps giving me ideas.

Well novels can be burned through, but non-fic (especially content-heavy ones) can take much longer. I compare it to the difference between walking on firm ground, walking in mud that goes down about an inch or so, and slogging through a marsh. Sometimes it's hard and TIRING to keep going, and sometimes you go "Ah forget it!" and go find something else to do. ;)
I'd imagine any book on quantum physics would end up in the latter for me. lol
