Community Building Tip: Movie Night

In today's fragmented world, people can improve it by reaching out to each other. Here are some ideas for building community in your neighborhood.

Host a backyard movie night. Treat the neighborhood to your favorite movie. But keep it PG rated–it will be outdoors, after all.

You can, of course, hold it indoors during inclement weather.  In a large community, consider dividing by theme to keep the crowd size manageable and the compatibility high.  In that context, there's no reason you can't show kiddie cartoons, comedies, romances, foreign films, and thrillers each at a different time.  Want to support diversity?  Set themes for women producers, black screenwriters, actors of color, nonsexual films, or whatever floats your boat.
