Character notes for "Like a Hand-Sewn Quilt"

Here are the character notes for "Like a Hand-Sewn Quilt."

Shiv (Egon Harrison) -- He has fair skin and silver eyes. His blond hair is straight and silky, worn long on top so that it that flops over his face. His head is a long triangle ending in a narrow chin. He has a lot of small scars from fights, but he heals well, having survived several injuries that could easily have proven fatal. Shiv is currently 20 years old. Sometimes he goes by the name Hugo.
He likes dark flavors -- coffee, cigarettes, dark chocolate. He loves fish, especially tuna and fried catfish, and anchovies on pizza. Pistachio ice cream is another favorite. He's fond of exotic sodas, whether for flavor or medicinal effect; he discovered strawberry-mint as a child and several people have been sharing others recently.
His superpower is a narrow form of telekinesis. It lets him create knives out of almost any nearby material, or take control of small bladed weapons from anyone else. He can't manage anything larger than a machete, though. He can sculpt most rigid materials, although it's still easier for his superpower to grip an edge or a point than a round surface.
Origin: While in Juvenile Hall, he was stabbed by another inmate. Shortly thereafter, Egon developed his superpower. He believes that there was something on the knife -- or in the material itself -- which caused this to happen.
Uniform: Street clothes, but with several bandoliers of throwing knives.
Qualities: Expert (+4) Fast, Good (+2) Ambidexterity, Good (+2) Crafty, Good (+2) Hoodlum, Good (+2) Recovering from Injuries, Good (+2) Streetwise
Poor (-2) Personality Shear
Powers: Expert (+4) Control Sharp Things, Average (0) Super-Immunity
Motivation: Puncture ALL the egos!

Shiv had two foster families that weren't too bad: the Wright family, black people into crafting; and the Atwood family, white people into the great outdoors. He tends to refer to them as the crafty family and the outdoorsy family.

Here he is on arrival at the Wright house, and later playing in the mud on the family farm.

Delonn Baumbach -- He has sorrel skin, black eyes, and nappy brown hair buzzed short. He is 21 years old. He is first on the left in the photo. He is the foster son of Jefferson and Precious Wright, younger foster brother of Janice Yates, Blaine Kesselring, older foster brother of Shiv, Carmine Hughes, and various other siblings. They live in the Morton Meadows, Midtown neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. Delonn attends the Metropolitan Community College where he is almost finished earning a certificate in Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology. He does well when working with his hands and enjoys tinkering with machines. He needs teammates, though, because left to his own devices he doesn't get much done.

Berry is the foster child of Jefferson and Precious Wright, younger foster sibling of Janice Yates, Blaine Kesselring, Delonn Baumbach, Shiv, Carmine Hughes, Rhyland Solinger, older foster sibling of Jubilee Wright, and various other siblings. They live in the Morton Meadows, Midtown neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. Berry loves logic and math, from games to classes.

She is the daughter of Jefferson and Precious, younger foster sister of Janice Yates, Blaine Kesselring, Delonn Baumbach, Shiv, Carmine Hughes, Rhyland Solinger, Berry Wilkin, and various other siblings. They live in the Morton Meadows, Midtown neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. Like her mother, Jubilee excels at crafts. Fun and outgoing, she makes friends easily, and enjoys doing things with other girls. Poor (-2) Nosy
