Emotional Intimacy Question: Younger Self

Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This is the current list.

4. If you could go back in time, what’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?

Use a safety line!  It prevents getting separated from other people.

This might have made it take longer to learn how to pay attention to which world I'm in, but it would've saved so many headaches.

“Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by assholes.”
~ William Gibson
Yes, exactly.

I think a very large amount of what's diagnosed as depression is actually a very natural response to shitty circumstances. Put another way: how many people get depressed for utterly inexplicable reasons when their life is quite pleasant? Far fewer than those who live in difficult to downright wretched situations.
