Use a safety line! It prevents getting separated from other people.
This might have made it take longer to learn how to pay attention to which world I'm in, but it would've saved so many headaches.
I'd give anything to be able to go back and tell my 10 year-old self this:

I think a very large amount of what's diagnosed as depression is actually a very natural response to shitty circumstances. Put another way: how many people get depressed for utterly inexplicable reasons when their life is quite pleasant? Far fewer than those who live in difficult to downright wretched situations.
