She is pro-union and likes books -- I added her! Plus I already learned something new from her LJ. Excellent.
Believe it or not, I'm only recently pro-union -- growing up, I was taught (alternately) "unions had a place when they started, but we don't need them anymore" and "unions want to destroy business". It wasn't until I started hearing about United Campus Workers and what they were doing that I changed my mind. I'm now very pro-union!

If you don't mind my asking, what new thing did you learn?
"We don't need unions anymore" is variable -- true in some places, false in many others. "Unions want to destroy business" is nonsense; it would mean losing jobs, instead of preserving and improving them. Ideally, workers are a vital part of a company, and smart employers treat them well because happy healthy employees are much more productive. But many business owners are shortsighted and don't care about long-term damage if the short-term bottom line can be maximized. In such context, unions provide one way of minimizing the damage. I tend to favor unions, because they usually don't show up unless they're necessary -- but I would greatly prefer to rearrange the world so they aren't necessary at all.
To put housekeeping's tip on the pillow.
She seems very interesting! :D
