Scientific Errors

Now I knew that the state of science was pretty bad due to the influence of money, along with people not bothering to frame their studies properly in the first place, but here's a report that ONE IN FIVE genetics papers contains errors inserted by Microsoft Excel.  There is not enough W in TF for this.  >_<

I'm currently in the middle of a huge contract with a shit-ton of data entry in an excel workbook, and yeah, I've definitely had to remain vigilant on the autocorrect aspect.  SOME of my data is dates, so I can't change ALL the formatting to text, but even on the fields that have been overridden to text, there is an error flag asking if I know I have numbers stored as text or that a date (it's NOT a date, but a roll #) stored as text.  😡. Also,  sorting has to be careful, because you have ro make sure that it is (or is not) sorting text numbers as numbers.
