Moment of Silence: Christopher Stasheff

Author Christopher Stasheff has passed away.  He was known for writing fantasy and science fantasy novels, with several popular series.

This one is a bit personal for me, because I went to high school with his daughter Izzy.  I wasn't particularly close with either of them.  But they hosted an after-prom party I was bribed to attend.  (My mother wanted me to do the prom thing.  I got paid in books.)  It was a little like-minded haven in an otherwise boring and aggravating excursion.  I tucked up with Izzy, her younger sibs, and a couple of other geeks and we watched The Lord of the Rings.  So that was awesome.

He will be missed.

I got to meet him at the 1996 World Fantasy Con. He was prowling the halls in a dark polyester suit, & he looked just like Santa Claus. [Odd, to think that he was then about the age I am now.] He was such a twinkly man.
