Poem: "A Revolutionary Act"

This is the freebie for the July [community profile] crowdfunding Creative Jam. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] alexseanchai. It also fills the "Violent Behavior" square in my 6-4-18 card for the Winteriron Bingo Adventure fest.

"A Revolutionary Act"

The founders of America
understood the need for
the separation of church
and state, but they did not
foresee the need for separation
of business and state as well.

Now that dark union has
seeped into all corners of
the country, taking over
the core of democracy.

The truth is bent and
twisted like coathangers.

Politics has become
a greased pig chase.

The jackboots are
out in force now.

Law and order
has devolved into
"just following orders."

Fascism is what happens when
a particular sort of order becomes
the dominant political force in a society.

It is situations such as these
that attract the Tricksters.

They stick up for those who
cannot, and they speak of
inconvenient truths.

They bring the chaos
to break through the wall
of order turned destructive.

In a time of alternative facts,
simply telling the truth has become
the most revolutionary act of all.

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
George Orwell

Fascism in America has become an increasing threat over time. It now meets to some degree all of "The 14 Characteristics of Fascism," in particular:

Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite
