Moment of Silence: Harlan Ellison - The Wordsmith's Forge
The Writing & Other Projects of Elizabeth Barrette
Moment of Silence: Harlan Ellison
Harlan Ellison has passed away.  He was one of the greatest writers, and tricksters, of our time.

At the Great Con in the Sky, a man covered in GOH ribbons and muttonchop face fur says, "Harlan, please stand on the person next to you so everyone can see you."

A short, scrappy dude wobbles erect on the shoulders of several equally beribboned friends, waves cheerily to the crowd, and then dives backward to crowdsurf in the general direction of the party suite.

Coyote, cleverly disguised in a fursuit, squeezes through the crowd in pursuit, a case of beer swinging lazily from his hand.

Yeah, I can easily see Coyote and Harlan being good buddies.
Wonder how long it'll take the two of them to make a visit to Valhalla?
You know Harlan would definitely be welcome there.

Yes ...

Loki shows up with a keg of mead on his shoulder, a goat on a rope, and a smirk.

Ten minutes later, everyone is wondering where Harlan is and why some of the gold bricks are missing from the parking lot.

I don't feel sorry for whoever dissed Loki this time.

Re: Yes ...

Heaven have mercy---I'd hate to be on the receiving end of Harlan with Coyote on one side of him and Loki on the other!

Very sad to hear; he was an amazing guy. He had gone to Ohio State, and used to come to our tiny little Con back in the early 80's, so I got to hang out with him a few times - he was totally, savagely hilarious. Coyote would love him, but as I recall, he didn't drink alcohol. RIP Harlan; the Ticktockman finally caught up.
