Three Birds
I spotted three birds of the same unfamiliar type at our fly-through feeder.  They are an utterly unremarkable shade of ashy gray-brown, with a bit of a dark line through the eye.  The closest I found was Northern Mockingbird, but I didn't see the distinctive wing patches that one has.

I wonder if they could be some brown-headed cowbirds?
The females and the juvies look a lot like what you're describing.
