Poem: "A Wordless Prayer"

This poem came out of the May 15, 2018 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired and sponsored by Anthony Barrette. It also fills the "animals" square in my 4-7-18 card for the origfic_bingo fest.


"A Wordless Prayer"


A cat lying on her back
silently begs to be petted,

and when petted, purrs,
sending a wordless prayer
to Bastet, Goddess of Cats.

All is well with the world,
says the purr, all is well.

Whenever Bastet
hears this prayer,
She makes it so.

Bastet is the name of the cat-goddess Bast in her fully feline form.
