Tuesday Yardening

Today is sunny and quite warm.  Birds and rabbits are out everywhere.

I started by cutting unwanted saplings out of the prairie garden and spraying weed killer in hopes of killing the stumps.  While I was out there, I heard a rustling.  There was a toad in an old milk jug, from last year's planting.  He was taking advantage of the extra moisture in the "greenhouse" to survive in an otherwise dryer environment.  :D  Perhaps I will put out a clay pot or some rotten logs in an out-of-the-way place to help critters in that area.

EDIT 5/8/18: I picked up sticks around a walnut tree and back path so Doug will be able to mow there.  Meanwhile he's raking up part of the prairie garden that's been mowed to keep it short this season.  He's digging a little strip where I will plant flowers too.

EDIT 5/8/18: I planted 6 packets of different flower seed in the prairie garden.

EDIT 5/8/18: I picked up sticks in the raspberry row, behind the cherry grove, and along the street.
