Cyber Self-Bullying

Self-bullying has a cyber version.  This has presumably existed as long as cyberspace, because so many people habitually denigrate themselves.  In most regards, it's the same as verbal self-bullying.  But it has one additional problem: the imprint.  Words fade unless recorded; posts remain unless removed somehow, whether you delete them or the service goes bankrupt.  In general, though, anything online is potentially permanent.

So, if you see someone doing this, treat it the same as verbal self-bullying.  Don't deny their perspective, just say that you disagree and add a detail or two about why.  They may not believe you, but over time, positive input can wear away past negativity.
