Poem: "Looking at Things for a Long Time"

This poem came out of the April 3, 2018 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from [personal profile] alexseanchai and Shirley Barrette. It also fills the "productive" square in my 4-1-18 card for the Spring Bingo fest.  This poem has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette.

"Looking at Things for a Long Time"

What Vincent van Gogh
wanted the most was to be
productive, and he was that.

He created over 2,000 works of art,
which have come to be considered
masterpieces even though nobody
appreciated them before he died.

He understood that
it is looking at things for
a long time that ripens you
and gives you a deeper meaning.

Notes:

"It is looking at things for a long time that ripens you and gives you a deeper meaning."
-- Vincent van Gogh

Vincent van Gogh was a famous painter whose art shows a unique way of looking at the world.

"The Starry Night" is a painting of a swirling night sky.

The Sunflowers Series is a set of paintings by Vincent Van Gogh. This one is Sunflowers F456, third version with a blue-green background. Many sunflowers of different types fill a vase.
