That's why I no longer take photos at family events.
I want to be PART OF THE ACTION AND FUN,
not standing on the sidelines
lining up that "perfect shot" of OTHERS having fun.
The "MEMEX" (memory extension) was an early concept
for computers augmenting our memory.

I'm more persistent about tamping things into my memory, but then, I can clock an important event or a perfect day as it is happening. Apparently most people can't. That perfect day at the street fair last summer, I crammed for all it was worth, because I knew I'd be running it through my mental fingers for all eternity, especially in moments like trying to sabotage an enemy warship.
But the memory effect? My idea of a good memory dates back to memorizing 9-day-long ceremonies and all the stars in the sky. Modern memory is already a sieve.
