For brunch we went to Cracked. We split a Sweet Cheesus, which is grilled cheese with smoked gouda and apple cider jam. That was delicious, and the jam is basically like a very good apple jelly. We also got the sweet potato tots with maple sugar. They are actually chunks, not shreds pressed together, which is fine with us. Most highly recommended.
We rambled around the mall for a while. Doug found a new Rubik's cube version that is a rectangular solid. I got a t-shirt and a candle in a glass holder.
Doug wanted to check Staples for pricing on some stuff, and we also stopped at Pier 1 Imports. Back when I was in junior high, it was a favorite store full of cool stuff and occasional bargains. Then it got more expensive and less interesting, and I gave up on it. But it's cool again. I was surprised to discover that the bowl chairs, well over $100 when I first saw them, are about half that now. We picked out an altar plate and I got a mosaic candle holder. We also looked at a C table but haven't decided on that yet.
For supper we went to the new international fusion restaurant that just opened. Chicken tikka taco was one of the best tacos I have ever put in my mouth. :P''' They also make excellent mango lassi and ras malai. We will most definitely be going back there! Most highly recommended. Alas, I was too stuff for either the lychee smoothie or a return to Paris Super for Thai ice cream.
Something else amusing: I have spent enough time in Terramagne that it's affecting my reflexes. While we were out walking, someone came up behind us on a skateboard. (Which they're not actually allowed to do in campustown, but it's not something I disapprove of.) This is a sound I recognize -- but I stepped to the edge, as for a mixed-use path, instead of stepping behind a solid object as I normally would. We don't have genuine mixed-use paths around here, so the only place I've been standing on them is over there. :D
It has been a great day, but very tiring.
