Featured Community:

Most folks on LiveJournal belong to a bunch of communities. Some of the good ones are kind of obscure. The "Featured Community" meme encourages people to share their favorite communities.

  1. Cite a community that you enjoy.
  2. Summarize its purpose and parameters.
  3. Invite your audience to join the community and/or reply with their favorite communities.


Today's featured community is: filk. This community focuses on filk music, which is folk music with a science fiction, fantasy, or horror theme. There are announcements about filk conventions, other events, album releases, and well-known musicians. Sometimes people get into discussions about filk music itself. Sometimes lyrics are posted, or links to audio files. If you enjoy filk music, check out this community. If you haven't yet discovered filk, but you like folk music and/or speculative fiction, this is a good place to sample it.

...you know, you'd think I'd have gone looking for a filk community, but it just never occurred to me. Considering I read filkertom's LJ, that's pretty silly. Thanks for the rec!
