Today's Adventures
We went up to see my parents today. 

On the way up, we stopped at Harvest Market for a few things.  They had samples out.  One of these days, we'll remember not to eat lunch before going there on Saturday.  Among the offerings was a ham from Triple S Farms. I didn't know they did more than turkey.  The ham was delicious.  We splurged on one.  Expensive, but did I mention delicious? quite large, and supposedly made without nitrates.  I am dubious of this since all the substitutes I've read about are, in fact, still nitrates and being organic does not make them any less dangerous.  But whatever, it is delicious ham and in the freezer for future use.  :D 

We presented the gifts to Mom and Dad.  They always love their copies of my Llewellyn annuals.  Plus the suede lanyard that Doug made, and the art prints that I got from a museum in Louisville this summer.  \o/  Yay holidays!

Since they're elsewise occupied for the holidays, I also presented them with poetry for the Holiday Poetry Sale, which means I should have stuff to post early in the week.  I am currently collating the poems for the sale so that I can post that on Monday.

After that, we went out to eat at Fujiyama.  It was crowded ... on the grill side ... and we eat in the regular restaurant.  Another haggis shortage averted!  Also the lobster roll is quite good.

I finished holiday shopping for Doug, just need to wrap his stuff. I forgot about the things I picked up from Enchantment Alley.  And it looks like we may actually have several guests for Yule, which would be neat.

I'm glad you had such a lovely time at the market.

Yeah, the nitrates are dangerous but the bacteria that make ham spoil are even more dangerous. {{{Sigh.}}}
I eat preserved ham only once or twice a year because of that.

Yes ...

I have ham a few times a year, bacon rather more often. I don't eat a lot though. I figure, it's reasonable to reduce known hazards, but there's no way to eliminate them in a biosphere heavily contaminated with all kinds of crud. Obsessing about it is pointless.
