Bluejay

Today I spotted a bluejay.  He was sitting on the altar on the wellcap in the south lot, holding seeds in his feet to peck them open.  Possibly he got some sunflower seeds from the birdfeeders.

I went out and filled the hopper feeder, metal tray feeder, and fly-through feeder.  I haven't seen many birds eating there yet, but they must be, because the seed is slowly disappearing.

It's cool and damp out, but no longer raining.  Big sycamore leaves have fallen everywhere, in shades of yellow and brown.  Not much color anywhere this year, but other leaves are turning yellow with a few hints of peach or orange.

Illinois #phenology ! Cool! Here in Virginia, oak leaves started turning color this weekend, falling as rain arrived last night.
