Garden Photos

Today is supposed to rain. All we've gotten is wind and a few drops. >_< Fortunately there are more chances over the next few days, but it's still frustrating.

Morning glories are beginning to bloom in the barrel garden!  \o/  Next to it is a firecracker plant.

Here is the whole barrel garden.

Petunias are blooming.  This is before the storm knocked over all the pots.  Again.  I had to put them back together. Again.  >_<

Barn swallows are nesting under the open porch over the patio.  :D 3q3q3q!!!  I am so excited.  We used to have them all the time when I was little, but I haven't seen any in ages.  When it comes to eating bugs, they are like little vacuum cleaners with wings.  I actually recognized them from the flight pattern: the bird flew out from under the porch high overhead, so I knew to look up and see where she had come from.  This is where.  \o/

Barn swallows and chimney swifts are wonderful at catching flying insects. Told my Hubby that I'd willingly build the chimney swifts their own chimney just so they'd eat up all the mosquitoes.

I badly need some plans for an owl nesting box.
I've read that owls will come IF nesting boxes are made available to them. You might want want one too.

Since we already have owls here, I figure they're happy with whatever they're finding. Possibly the trees. Had we not the great horned owls, I might consider putting up a barn owl box, but they won't crowd a bigger owl.
